First Time Climb (Families with youth age 7-15)

Learn the basics of how to climb and supervise safely - this 2 hour session includes a 15 minute induction from staff. Climbing shoe hire included.

SUPERVISION: This is not a fully instructed session, and our staff will only be part of your session for the first 15 minutes - after this any 7-15 year olds on the booking will need to be supervised by adult members of your party. You must have at least 1 non-climbing adult supervisor (age 18+) per 2 children in your party, or 1 adult climbing supervisor (age 18+) per 1 child. Please read our supervision guidelines carefully before booking.

Unfortunately you may not bring other children with you to the centre (e.g. under 7s, spectators) due to space and safety requirements.

Car parking is limited at the centre, and at busy times you may need to park nearby instead - see our overflow parking map for details. We highly recommend cycling to the centre (30 bike parking spaces now available) or using the excellent bus and train links to Portslade Station, just 5 minutes away. Please make sure you leave enough time to arrive for your booking.

To boulder you can wear anything that allows you to be comfortable and gives you a decent range of movement. Normal gym clothing like shorts and a t-shirt is perfect. In the colder months, stretchy jeans are also a favourite. The session includes climbing shoe rental, so if you don't have your own pair you can borrow some for the session.

Please remove any jewellery before climbing, especially rings and earrings, as these could catch on the climbing holds and cause you injury.

It's great fun to learn to climb with your kids!

Adult supervisors can upgrade their ticket to include climbing for themselves (as long as they're not responsible for more than 1 child, see our How to Supervise page for details).

Families with 2 adults and 3 kids can't currently book online due to system limitations, but please email us on bookings@boulderbrighton.com and we'll do our best to book you in.

Max 3 children per group. Unfortunately, multiple families who wish to climb together can only have a maximum of 3 supervised children between them, to keep the centre safe for them and others.
